Justin Brown is the founder and maker behind Timber Shelves, an e-commerce business based in the heart of the UK that specialises in making made-to-measure wooden shelving and supplies nationwide. He has worked in the joinery industry for over 15 years, starting in the family-run business, TD Brown Joinery in 2011, where he trained in the manufacture of bespoke wooden windows, staircases, gates and doors.
In early 2014, Justin established Essential Woodwork Limited to manufacture and supply solid wood furniture, and launched TimberShelves.co.uk in 2016. The website now offers a full range of shelving styles and sizes, all handmade from solid oak, walnut, and pine, with every shelf personally designed and crafted by Justin. All hardwood and softwood timbers are sustainably sourced from FSC-certified suppliers.
Justin is available to journalists for comment on handmade solid wood shelving, shelf installation, UK home interior and storage trends, sustainable timber sourcing, and the day-to-day realities of running a small independent manufacturing business in the UK.

2016: Founded Timber Shelves
In June 2016, Justin launched TimberShelves.co.uk, an e-commerce website that sells custom handmade wooden shelving and accessories.
2014 - current: Formed Essential Woodwork Limited
Started his own company in 2014, initially selling through online marketplaces before developing the company e-commerce shop that sells wooden furniture and accessories across the UK.
2011 - 2014: Joiner for TD Brown Joinery Limited
Began full-time employment in the family-run joinery business, creating wooden windows, doors, gates and staircases.
